Candle Safety and Care Tips

Candle Safety

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always keep candles within sight. Extinguish completely before leaving a room or going to sleep.
  • Keep away from children and pets. Place candles out of reach of little hands and paws.
  • Use a stable, heat-resistant surface. This helps prevent tipping and protects surfaces underneath.
  • Keep away from flammable objects. Do not place candles near curtains, furniture, paper, or anything that could catch fire.
  • Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn. This helps prevent large flames, smoke, and soot while improving performance.
  • Do not burn longer than 4 hours. For best results, burn candles 2 to 4 hours at a time.
  • Extinguish if the flame becomes too large or flickers excessively. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before relighting.
  • Stop burning when 1/4 inch of wax remains. This helps prevent the container from overheating.
  • Keep away from drafts. Avoid placing candles near fans, vents, or open windows.
  • Keep debris out of melted wax. Remove matches, wick trimmings, and other materials once the candle has cooled.
  • Do not move a burning candle. The container and wax may be hot and can spill.
  • Use a snuffer to extinguish. This helps avoid hot wax splatter.
  • Never use water to extinguish a candle. Water can cause splattering, large flames, or glass breakage.

A Different Burn

  • Our coconut wax candles may leave wax along the sides of the container during the first half of the candle. This is normal.
  • The remaining wax will typically melt and catch up during the final third of the candle.
  • Pro Tip: Burn for 3 to 4 hours at a time during the last half of the candle to help melt wax evenly.

Reusing Our Containers

  1. Place the finished candle in the freezer overnight.
  2. Once the wax hardens, gently loosen it with a butter knife or spoon.
  3. Hand wash the container with soap and water.
  4. Reuse it however you like.
